Rolling Thin Film Ovens are used to test the combined effects of heat and air on a thin moving film of semisolid asphaltic materials/bitumen or bituminous binders, replicating the hardening that occurs during manufacture and installation.

The internal chambers are made of stainless steel and insulated with fiberglass or similar materials; the entrance includes a symmetrically situated window.

The ovens include a programmable temperature controller with PID mode and a digital display system. A Grade A platinium resistance thermometer is used to measure and compare the temperature of the oven. The temperature may be read using the digital unit located on the oven.
