The Cleveland Flash and Burning Point Tester is a laboratory tool that measures the flash and fire points of petroleum compounds. It comprises of a metal cup fixed on an electric heater, together with a temperature controller and a thermometer (-6 C to +400 C).
The Cleveland flash and fire point includes a test flame applicator, a brass test cup, thermocouple support, a heating plate. The Flash and Fire Point Tester is available in both hand-operated and motorized.
The flash point of a liquid is the temperature at which it begins to emit vapours that can easily catch fire when combined with air at its surface. It's the temperature at which the liquid becomes potentially flammable. The Cleveland flash and fire point tester is normally operated and calibrated in accordance with ASTM D92 or equivalent standards.
