Liquid Limit Devices, Casagrande Method

The Manual and Motorized Liquid Limit Apparatus (Casagrande) are used to determine the moisture content at which clay soils pass from plastic to liquid state.

Liquid Limit is the water content at which soil changes from a liquid to a plastic state, defined as a point where two halves of a soil sample flow together when jarred 25 times in a specified manner using a Liquid Limit machine.

Motorized Liquid Limit Machine includes a counter and is most accurate with the use of a specially geared motor, assuring a proper operating speed of 1.9–2.1 drops per second. An on-off switch is provided. Operates on 115V, 60Hz or 230V, 50Hz.

Hand-Operated Liquid Limit Machine does not have a counter and is a more economical option. It includes a counter which offers a more automated, cost-effective option.
