The Hand Auger Boring Set, essential tool for precise and effortless ground exploration and sampling. This compact and versatile kit features a T-Handle with a 1-meter rod, a 1-meter extension rod, and a selection of interchangeable auger heads in diameters.
Extension rods by far are very important when it comes to soil sampling and especially labor that is involve in an effort to get deep soil layer samples. Compared with the original length of the auger, these rods enable the hand auger to reach much deeper in the ground, which benefits the analysis of soils. In environmental assessments, geotechnical investigations or agriculture extension rods allow professionals to obtain undisturbed sample at deeper depth hence accurate test results.
Designed for hand-operated boring and sampling, this set allows to reach depths of up to 5 meters, making it an indispensable tool for geologists, soil scientists, and construction professionals.
How Extension Rods Work with Hand Augers
Extension rods are used to increase the reach and depth of use while using hand augers during soil sampling. These rods are intended to be connected somewhere between the auger and the handle, so as to reach deep soil layers without compromising on the sample collected. The use of an extension rod is easy but when it comes to sampling it needs to be done with the right tools and methods.
Connecting the Extension Rod to a Hand Auger
Since the main use of an extension rod is to increase the overall drilling depth of the hand auger. Almost all extension rods feature threaded ends that accommodate snug connection to the auger on one end and extra rods or the auger handle on the other. These threaded connections are critically important to ensure minimal movement during drilling particularly when extracting soils from some depth.
