A brush is a common equipment with bristles, wire, or other filaments. It typically comprises of a handle or block to which filaments are attached in either a parallel or perpendicular orientation, depending on how the brush is to be grasped during usage.

The materials for both the block and the bristles or filaments are chosen to withstand the dangers of their intended application, such as corrosive chemicals, heat, or abrasion. It is used for painting, combining chemicals (powder), surface finishing, and a variety of other applications.

It is one of the most basic and adaptable instruments in use today, and the ordinary home may have several dozen different varieties.
