A Specific Gravity Apparatus is used with a scale and a wire basket to determine the volume occupied by the aggregate in various combinations comprising coarse particles.
The Specific Gravity Apparatus enables convenient suspended weighing of samples in water for relative density determinations of aggregates, hardened concrete, bituminous mixes, refractory brick, and other similar materials. It is also used to calculate the volume of unevenly shaped natural stone and similar materials.
The lower portion of the specific gravity apparatus has a moving platform that transports the water tank, allowing test specimens to be weighed in both air and water.
