K-Slump Tester
Standards
ASTM C1362
The K-Slump Tester is a special tool used to quickly give an accurate slump and workability of fresh concrete. And, being specifically made to obtain an approximate concrete consistency, the K-Slump Tester finds a useful application in the construction industry, showing its relevance to those professionals who need to be sure that their concrete mixes have fulfilled all requirements strength, durability, or otherwise.
The tester has a precision-engineered probe that is inserted into the fresh concrete. Thereafter, the user gets to measure the depth of penetration into the concrete. After a wait of 40 seconds, the measuring rod is lowered until it rests on the surface of the concrete, then K-Slump value is read on the graduated scale. This process is quite simple yet very effective to provide a reliable indication of how workable concrete is: therefore, well-applied in the decisions of the construction team about which mix design and placement techniques are best.
In addition, this test equipment delivers fast measurements in-place. As against the standard slump test, which is performed after establishing a longer preparation time and can vary due to factors such as the operator's technique, the K-Slump Tester offers the fast and consistent assessment of workability of concrete. This makes it an exceptionally invaluable tool at the construction site where time really matters and data in real time is the requirement.
How the K Slump Tester Works
The K Slump Tester is a quick, reliable way to test freshly mixed concrete's workability and slump. The probe has carefully cut holes and slots with a mechanism that allows flow of the concrete inside to be measured. Here's how it works:.
Preparation: The K Slump Tester is dropped into the fresh concrete up to the level of disc without rotating or shaking the tester. This way concretes enter the tester through holes at the bottom
Measurement: At precisely 40 seconds, the caliper attached to the testing rod is permitted to gently drop to the surface of the concrete in the tube. The slump value is read off directly from a scale on the measuring device marked in millimeters
Workability Reading: Once the slump is read, the tester is withdrawn with much care so that a second reading of the concrete retained inside the tester is taken. This reading gives an immediate indication of workability of the concrete, showing just how easily it can mix and place
K Slump Tester makes on-site and laboratory testing that much easier because the results are immediate and accurate for project managers and engineers.
